Toona sinensis
Chinese Mahogany
A deciduous, often multi stemmed, small tree or large shrub from Asia. Pinnate leaves, bronze when young, and lovely yellow tints in autumn, 50-70cm in length and 30-40cm wide. The trunk is smooth and brown on young trees but as it matures can become scaly and scruffy. The leaves and young shoots are edible.
Max height 15m. Spread 10m.
Flowers June/July.
Full sun.
Rich, fertile soil.
Hardy.
