Cape Gooseberry
A flowering perennial from Peru where it grows wild in the mountains and forests. The creamy white flowers are followed by golden orange edible berries and surrounded by papery calyces. Cape Gooseberries have been a cultivated fruit in America since Inca times and more recently in Europe where they are used as an exotic garnish for desserts.
Flowers July to August. Fruits August.
Full sun/partial shade.
Tender.
