Description
Ensete ventricosum ‘Montbeliardii’
A very recent re-introduction. Montbeliardii was originally described in 1930 but fell out of cultivation until now. More upright & elegant than its cousin ‘Maurelii’ slightly more green, less red on the leaves with a deep purple underside. The leaves are slightly tougher than the species which makes them more wind tolerant, but still prone to shredding. Still not readily available so fairly rare.
Max height 4m
Full sun. Sheltered from wind if possible.
Tender. Bring inside for winter.
