Cape Thatching Reed
A drought tolerant reed like, clumping perennial with wiry green stems with brown bracts which look like bands. Flowers appear at the tip of each stem. As well as being drought tolerant, they can cope with coastal winds.
Native to South Africa.
Max Height 60cm.
Full sun.
Well drained soil.
Hardy to -5°C.
Germination tips:
Sow in autumn.
Cover with a fine layer of sand.
Germinates in 3-8 weeks.
