Giant thorny Bamboo
A clumping bamboo native to southeast Asia with thick, swollen, arched stems, covered in spines. The canes can reach 10-18cm diameter. They grow in drier areas but prefer moist fertile soil and form dense thickets. Formerly known as Bambusa arundinacea.
Max height. 20-30m.
Full sun or partial shade.
Can tolerate temperatures down to -1°C.
Germination tips:
* Soak for 24 hours.
* Sow in good seed compost.
* Keep between 15 – 20 degrees in bright but not direct sunlight.
